artist statement

"Texture and energy was my main focus for Spiral Wave. Where the wave crashes into the sea is intentionally unrealistic. The abstraction of separating the white foam from the blue is meant to call attention to the spiraling center of the wave, giving it movement from right to left across the canvas. I quickly flung paint to the canvas to express the intense feeling of energy I feel immersed in a wave." - Jaison Cianelli
