I wanted the “Tree Of Life” to be fun and expressive.  I consider this piece to be mixed media because I created a digital abstract painting and adapted a very rustic hand drawn silhouette of the tree into it.  I paired the many textured circles with the rectangular shapes to express the dual worlds we live in – spiritual and physical.  The Tree of Life is described in the Bible and is being guarded still to this day:

“He drove out the man; and at the east of the garden of Eden he placed the cherubim, and a sword flaming and turning to guard the way to the tree of life.” – Genesis 3:24

“Out of the ground Yahweh God made every tree to grow that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the middle of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.” – Genesis 2:9
