artist statement

"Lights is painted on 2 canvases measuring 18" x 24" each. To really bring out the glow effect I chose to use a dark contrasting background that involved the use of black paint. I rarely use black. Combining it with layers of reds and blues its use was minimal but effective. Like in most all my work I glazed layers on top of one another with a gloss medium, but for some reason this abstract painting really shines with deep rich undertones. The faint white drips appear like energy or smoke." - Jaison Cianelli
